Why AquaKids? Aims and Values

We have been running lessons for 25 years and have developed an excellent reputation.

Small classes

Groups 1-5 have a maximum of 6 swimmers in a class

Siblings can swim at the same time

As we have different ability groups in the pool at each half hour we try as much as possible that siblings swim at the same time.

High Staff Ratio

Groups 1-4 have a maximum of 6 swimmers in each class to at least 2 teachers in the water. Group 1 and 2 often have 3 or even 4 teachers.

Group 5 the teacher is out the water with max of 7 swimmers.

Teacher in the water

Groups 1-4 the teachers are in the water with the class, which promotes confidence and enables effective communication between teacher and swimmer.

Personal approach

We pride ourselves on knowing every swimmer's name and caring about their swim experience as well as supporting parents and swimmers at every level of the swim journey

Enthusiastic, caring and highly qualified teachers

Many of the A team have been with Aquakids for 10+ years providing continuity and consistency for swimmers and parents. All are Swim England/STA qualified with valid safeguarding and DBS certification along with RLSS lifesaving qualifications.

Excellent Communication with parents

Parents receive bi-termly newsletters with information, updates and swim-related articles. Emails with immediate news and the website and social media are also updated regularly.

There is always a Swim Co-ordinator on poolside to ensure safety and be a point of contact for parents. We answer email communication efficiently and quickly.

Fun lessons

Teachers follow a scheme of work, which meets the swimmer's ability along with the STA award outcomes. Games are delivered with a specific objective to promote learning in a fun approach and our FUNdamental approach is key to success in the pool

Continual Assessment linked to the STA Learn to Swim Programme

Every swimmer works towards an award each term. Click here to see what awards we do and why.

More than just swimming

Social and cognitive skills are promoted alongside learning the physical skills of swimming and we are passionate about developing a well-rounded swimmer who is competent in skills as well as distance. We do pride ourselves on technique development over long distances.
